Course overview

What is the Power BI Training course?

Power BI Training is a 20-hour instructor-led programme for analysts and reporting teams. Participants move from raw files to a reusable semantic model, write and test DAX measures, build an interactive report and plan how it will be refreshed and shared. Copilot is included where the client environment meets Microsoft’s capacity, tenant and region requirements; the core course does not depend on Copilot access. It is a Power BI course for Bangalore learners, and Power BI corporate training for company teams.

Power BI, Excel or Tableau: choose around the work

Start with the task and your organisation’s reporting environment, not a universal tool ranking. Excel is useful for spreadsheet-based exploration and financial models; Power BI suits a reusable model and shared reporting workflow; Tableau is another route for interactive visual analysis. Learning more than one tool can help, but is not a prerequisite for every analyst role.

  • For recurring management dashboards, assess data preparation, the semantic model, refresh, access control and distribution—not only chart design.
  • For ad-hoc calculations and scenario models, strengthen spreadsheet fundamentals before adding a reporting platform.
  • If your employer already uses Tableau, build on that environment rather than switching solely for a course.
  • Compare the actual licences, capacity, sharing requirements and administrator setup. Do not assume Microsoft 365 includes every Power BI or Copilot capability.

Compare Tableau training, Advanced Excel training and SQL for querying the source data.

Where Power BI skills fit in your career

The original role pathways include Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, MIS Executive or Manager, BI Developer, Reporting Analyst, Analytics Consultant and Power BI Specialist. A course supports skill development; suitability for a vacancy also depends on experience, domain knowledge and the rest of the role’s requirements.

Build a portfolio that shows the source data, preparation steps, model relationships, tested measures and a dashboard that answers a business question. For a developer-oriented role, explain refresh, permissions and maintenance as well as the visuals. Use synthetic or approved data in anything you publish.

Hands-on practice

Exercises and practical outputs

Participants build one reporting solution progressively instead of completing disconnected feature demonstrations.

How every module runs

  1. Prepare

Inspect and transform the source data.

  2. Model

Define the grain, relationships and business entities.

  3. Calculate

Write measures and reconcile them to known totals.

  4. Present and govern

Design the report and document publishing, access and refresh.

Exercises use realistic examples with no sensitive data. What participants make in the workshop is for practice and review, and anything they keep is their own working material.

Reliable analytics

A report that looks right can still be wrong

Every course treats data quality, checking calculations and controlling access as part of the work, not as an optional last step.

Check the product’s current documentation and your company’s data rules before you use these methods at work.

  1. Use approved data

Use public, made-up, cleaned-up or company-approved data. Remove personal and confidential fields before using any outside AI service.

  2. Trace every number

Match row counts, totals, filters, joins and time periods to the source before a report is used for a decision.

  3. Review generated logic

Read every formula, DAX measure, SQL query, calculated field and Python script that AI writes. Test the edge cases instead of trusting output that only sounds right.

  4. Publish with controls

Before sharing a workbook or dashboard, confirm who can see it, who refreshes it, how sensitive the data is and who reviews it.

Delivery and customisation

How the course is tailored and delivered

Private programmes are built around the reports, data, tool versions and decisions your people deal with at work. Public batches use neutral practice data, so people from different companies can work safely.

From first conversation to evaluation

  1. Map the work

Find out the roles, current skill level, regular reports and the decisions the training should help with.

  2. Confirm the environment

Check software versions, licences, database access, security rules and whether your data can be used in exercises.

  3. Shape the labs

Choose realistic data and outputs, then decide how deep to go on formulas, models, charts or code.

  4. Practise and review

People build during the session, explain their choices and use a checklist before showing the result.

Course FAQs

Common questions before planning this course

Answers about the course as published. Your written proposal records any changes we agree, how it is delivered and the price.

Are public cohorts available for Power BI Training?

Public batches run live online when dates are published. Send an enquiry for the next available dates. Your place is held only when Technovids confirms the batch in writing.

What is included for a public-cohort learner?

The Technovids LMS gives you session notes, assignments, lab guides and recordings for three months after the batch. We explain what you need to complete and how the certificate works at the start.

Is a completion certificate provided?

Yes. Learners who meet the completion requirements get a Technovids certificate with a unique ID you can check on the Technovids website. It is not a vendor certification.

Who provides the laptop, software and licences?

Bring your own suitable laptop. We confirm the software version, accounts and licences you need beforehand. For private programmes, a practice environment or virtual machine can be arranged separately if needed.

Can the course be delivered for a corporate team?

Yes. The private version can use your approved data, report standards and business examples. It can run live online or at your office, with scope and price confirmed in the proposal.

Do I need Excel or SQL before learning Power BI?

Basic comfort with tables and business data is enough for the foundation route. Excel helps with familiar reporting concepts, and SQL helps with database work, but neither is a mandatory prerequisite for the standard programme.

Is Copilot included?

Copilot concepts and review practices are included. Hands-on Copilot use depends on eligible Microsoft capacity, tenant settings, permissions and region. When it is unavailable, the core modelling, DAX and dashboard labs continue without it.

Is this a Microsoft certification course?

No. This is practical Power BI training delivered by Technovids. The completion certificate is issued by Technovids and is not a Microsoft credential or exam result.
